Are AI Headshots Any Good? A Photographer’s Surprising Answer

As a corporate headshot photographer, you might be surprised to hear my thoughts on Ai Headshots. I have spent my whole adult life as a professional photographer. First as an advertising photographer, shooting ads for Adidas, Reebok, Target, and McDonalds to name a few. During the pandemic, because I was unable to travel for jobs (which was all my jobs) I switched to shooting local corporate headshots for corporate teams and individuals, and I have been shocked and excited about how busy this business has become! Since I have started shooting headshots, ai headshots have slowly been on the rise. Out of curiosity, I began to test a few different ai headshot websites, to see how they stood up to real headshots that were taken with a camera. And, every time I tested an ai headshot generator, over the years, it was the same thing, plastic looking skin, bad expressions, hair looks completely unbelievable and wardrobe that I would never wear. Most of the time it looked kind of like me, but not close enough to pass as the real me and definitely not good enough to use as an official corporate headshot on my Linkedin or company site.

As time has gone on, and I had continued to play with ai imagery, I have seen ai create some amazing images and over the years and I have become more and more curious about the whole process...

The more curious I got, the more I played with ai headshot generation, thinking it must be possible to create a believable ai headshot, that has good light, realistic skin and wardrobe that people would actually wear in a good ai corporate headshot. That is when my own ai image and ai headshot generation began and I started to really play with different model building, trying to create the best ai corporate headshot of myself. At first, just for fun, but then I started having some results that look actually just like good...if not great. So close that it probably could fool me...if I didn't already know it was an ai headshot, I might believe this was a real photo of me. And that is when I had my lightbulb moment, if I can make ai headshots that look just like me, why can't I do it for other people as well. So, in July, 2025 - I began creating my own ai headshot generation website. I told myself that I wouldn't release a headshot website, unless I could make it better then the other sites. I wanted to use my photographers eye to create the best, most realistic ai headshots on the market. The goal, was to make them look as good, as realistic as the headshots that I took in my studio... And low and behold, I believe I did it! Where most ai headshots look lifeless, plastic over retouched skin, with your face sitting on someone else's body, bad wardrobe and fake looking hair... These new ones that I have been creating look SO real. 8 months of work seemed to pay off.

So, for this photographer, (now Ai headshot artist), I actually think that it is possible to have amazing ai headshots. You just have to know which site to go to.
